Frodsham Folk Club, founded in 1968, has held it’s Friday night musical evenings in a number of small venues around the Frodsham area of Cheshire, where its popularity has grown steadily over the years. Its home between 1969 and 2005 was in the stables behind the Queens Head pub! After 2005, the club relocated to the Frodsham Conservative Club, where it remains to this day, offering great live folk music most Friday nights.
Back in the early 1990s, the folk club evenings were methodically recorded onto cassette tape (two cassettes per evening) by a stalwart folk fan, and a few months ago, I was contracted to transfer all of these cassettes (~1500 in total) to digital wave files.
The cassettes are sent in boxes of ~250 at a time, and the main photo shows what part of such a wall of cassettes looks like in the studio!
The project is scheduled to last about 5 years, and the aim is to make these recordings available on the cloud.
